Having left Singapore in the summer, we recently returned for half term break wanting to stay in a hotel which would make us feel like we were on an out of town holiday.
Positioned close to Adventure Cove, the Beach Villas at Resorts World Sentosa is fringed with jungle and beautifully maintained gardens. I booked a one bedroomed Beach Villa to accommodate my husband, me, our 8 year old daughter, and twin toddlers. Several websites had described the accommodation as a one bedroom villa with separate living area but unfortunately, while it was very generously proportioned (93 square metres), there was no separate bedroom. (Having to sleep in the same room as our 1.5 year old twins filled me with fear!) Each villa has a full time butler on duty so ours very kindly disappeared to look into the cost and availability of an upgrade. During this time we noticed a number of lovely features at our villa – the decked veranda with chairs and loungers, the shallow shelf of water leading down to the pool which the toddlers could paddle in and our private jacuzzi which overlooked the pool (there are privacy signs next to each villa’s jacuzzi in case other residents are tempted to use it!). Internally, there was a seating area large enough to sleep our 8 year old and, dare I say it, an enormous bathroom that could easily house two travel cots!
The next size villa was two bedroomed, considerably larger (and more expensive). We were offered a generous rate so I opted to go for a look see with the butler. The Two Bedroom Villa was stunning with wall to wall windows offering a fabulous view (even with the haze) across the water to Keppel Bay and a good sized pool. Two individual bedrooms were separated by a generous living area so expansive you would need a baby monitor if taking a baby or small child. I felt the individual massage room was a little surplus to our requirements and resisted the urge of a large dose of over indulgence. Secretly, I was hoping the twins would keep us up all night and my husband would insist we moved, however, this didn’t happen. We ALL slept like babies in the existing villa with the luxurious Egyptian cotton bed linen and goose feather pillows.
The 24 hour butlers could not do enough to help. From providing us with a highchair for the duration of our stay, taking me to the pharmacy when one of the children was ill, shopping for milk for the babies and generally ferrying us around. The breakfast buffet was extensive and housed in the the nearby Forest, located at Equarius Hotel, which regrettably we didn’t get to try as we opted for the ease of in-room dining with the children.
The Beach Villas at Resorts World Sentosa was a fabulous tranquil escape with meandering pool, rain forest and the odd majestic peacock strutting around entertaining the children. If you desire a livelier vibe you can use the facilities at the other hotels and then return for some peace and quiet while soaking in the huge bathtub.
Will I return? Of course! There’s definitely a massage table with my name on it. But I may just need to convince my husband…
